Hi there! My name is Baillie McNitt, and I am a rising senior at the Severn School in Severna Park, MD. Growing up in Annapolis, I have spent much of my life both on and in the water; my parents even like to joke that I could swim before I could walk.
As I've grown older, however, I've come to realize that the Bay and oceans I love so deeply are in danger. Plastics the size of sesame seeds have entered into the aquatic food chain, holding untold dangers to our health, and yet we continue to throw tons of plastics into the oceans annually. As an avid surfer and sailor, I could not stand back and watch as these beautiful places were littered so carelessly, so I decided to do some research of my own.
